Voters Support Offshore Wind – Let’s Call on the Governor to Act!

There were 13 town meetings/town votes across the state that supported offshore wind warrant articles in March. We estimate over 6000 voters actually voted for the warrant articles just at town meetings/town votes – by 70% or more margins – including Seacoast towns of Hampton, Exeter, Lee, Newfields (home of the governor!) and Stratham, though town meeting support was often close to unanimous but unrecorded/harder to gauge. In separate actions, Rye and New Castle boards of selectmen also voted in favor of similar resolutions, adding to previous actions last year by Durham, Dover and Portsmouth councils. So the grand total of NH communities supporting offshore wind action and writing the governor now comes to 19 – all across the state, from New Castle to Alstead. Along with our allies 350NH, we will be working in coming months to get the cities of Somersworth, Concord, Keene and Nashua on board as well.

As of May 14, 2018, we are now up to 20 towns and cities passing offshore wind resolutions! Peterborough just passed theirs with 75% of the vote!

RALLY FOR RENEWABLES
To take the issue directly to the governor, we will be co-sponsoring a “Rally for Renewables” at the Statehouse in Concord, on Earth Day – Sunday, April 22nd, starting at 1 PM. You can find out more and sign up at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1985524175043033/
